Combining nondestructive testing, conventional testing, condition survey, and traffic forcast results with layered elastic and finite element design output, RDM develops detailed designs for new pavements and for pavement rehabilitation. Study results also include specifications and special construction requirements.
In addition, RDM can analyze various attributes of the pavement including estimated remaining structural life under projected traffic conditions and Pavement Classification Number (PCN).
Typical input parameters used for pavement analysis and design include:
- Elastic moduli computed from NDT to establish pavement materials and subgrade strength
- Estimated traffic forcast
- Concrete joint deflection ratio
- Concrete factor computed from structural condition index (SCI)
- Existing pavement thickness determined from record research and/or cores
